Artist Statement

As a native Oregonian, I spent much of my free time following my father in his outdoor pursuits. Engaging in a variety of activities including camping, fishing, hiking, and skiing developed my appreciation and respect for the wilderness. I found a passion for capturing the beauty of the wilderness through the lens of a camera at an early age. I quickly became the "family photographer". Many adventures as a child brought me to the Central Oregon region and has allowed me to experience a great deal of what Oregon has to offer in natural beauty. My photographic passion continues to "develop" as I spend time hiking and climbing the rugged terrain of the cascade range. I am able to reach less frequented locations, resulting in images with a unique perspective of a familiar scene. I strive to not only accurately reproduce a scene, and convey the "mood" of the moment, but to create images that help build environmental awareness, and express the importance of preserving the wilderness. I enjoy bringing to my viewers the intimacy of the moment and allowing them to feel involved in the image. In all aspects of life there is a story to be told.
